Microneedling

Micro-Needling is a new and exciting procedure that is fast becoming popular among countless individuals seeking the reduction of fine lines, scars and wanting to improve their skin’s quality.  This innovative procedure is also referred to as Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy (ECIT). Micro-Needling is used mainly as a collagen induction therapy for scars, stretch marks and for anti-ageing effects. This new treatment provides hope to those who have been burdened with scars, acne scars, poor skin texture, and fine lines.

What is the Micro-Needling Procedure?

An Eclipse MicroPen® is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to assist in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles. In addition, Eclipse MicroPen® also creates micro-channels allowing topical gels, creams and serums to be effectually absorbed, this in turn enhances the effects in deeper layers of the skin. Bottom line, it stimulates the body’s own collagen production to help reduce wrinkles, stretch marks and scarring.

What Areas of the Body Can Be Treated?

The Eclipse MicroPen® can be used on all parts of the body. So, no matter what area of the body you want to see change, it can happen with this innovative procedure.

What Exactly is this Procedure?

The Eclipse MicroPen® has a sterile cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-points attached to it. A qualified skin-care professional applies a sterile saline to the skin and selects the appropriate pen position based on the client’s unique needs. Next, the Eclipse MicroPen® is gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. The high speed (8,500 rpm) motion minimizes discomfort; this is a great advantage over the other light-based and heat-based devices.

Micro-Needling is a 15 to 30 minute procedure depending on the size of the area to be treated.

The sensation associated with the Eclipse MicroPen® is somewhat similar to low grit sandpaper being moved across the skin. Although some areas of the body may be more sensitive than others, the speed of the tip makes this procedure comfortable.

Is There Downtime After Treatment?

Right after treatment the skin will appear to be bright red. Healing time depends on the pen position used and the number of overlapping passes your skin care professional performs. Many clients report experiencing redness anywhere from two to four days, some say the redness is gone within 24 hours. Following the guidance of your skin care professional is important, in order to aid in the healing process.

How Soon Will Results Be Attained?

Right away there is a glow to the skin. Visible changes to the skin occur over the course of several weeks. Results have been known to improve up to six months after treatment.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Each person will have a different answer to this question. Depending on the change you seek and your skin type will determine how many Micro-Needling treatments are required. Some individuals only require one treatment. Most individuals will require a series of 2 to 3 treatments spaced out between 6 and 8 weeks. If an individual has significant skin issues then 6 to 8 sessions will probably be required at 6 week intervals.

  • Psoriasis and other chronic conditions
  • History of keratosis or herpes simplex
